Born in North Dakota, of Mi'kmaw|Métis descent, Carolyn Doucette is a member of the Métis Nation of Maine and is an American multidisciplinary artist with a BFA from the University of Victoria. Her work has shown and screened at art galleries and film festivals in the US, Canada and Europe. Her work and research concerns the connection between humans and nature, the ecological implications of a nature/culture dichotomy in Western thought paradigms and the natural world vs. the "sublime" or "picturesque" landscape. She lives in Santa Barbara, CA and is currently working on a mixed-media series exploring her indigenous heritage.
